"The dream is what is real. It is their waking life that is the falsehood." (125)

I had a LOT of trouble with this statement, and I'm not sure I can quite it accept it yet. Maybe it's simply because I'm having trouble wrapping my mind around the fact that everything I know, everything I thought I knew, could be inside out. The next quote I found to be a little more...believable: "The dreamer is the vessel for a borrowed thought... The dream state is more authentic for it shows the connection in bold relief." (125) I guess, in my mind, I found this part to be a little less extreme. When you're asleep, it would make sense that you're more receptive to things, even other people's thoughts.

And I'm not sure I find the dream state to be "more authentic" but I do agree that it "shows the connection in bold relief." It seems our connection is much stronger while we're dreaming. And this makes sense to me: while sleeping/dreaming, most people are not as in control of their thoughts as they are in their waking state. You could argue in the opposite, I guess.

The data on the town of Roseto, PA was astounding. One might argue that it COULD be due to other factors, but it the close-knit community COULD have a direct effect. is the fact that our society is so cut off from others the reason why the are so many diseases? Take obesity. One could argue that our portions sizes are out of control and we have such easy access to high fat foods that we are gaining huge amounts of weight. But could another effect be that we eat because we're lonely? Because we have no one to talk to? As humans, it is usually normal we have social interaction. Are we harming ourselves by cutting out relationships with our neighbors? Interesting little tid bit... I might go over and introduce myself to my neighbors JUST in case.

Chapter 8 was really interesting. I found myself, for the first time since starting this book, unable to put it down. I kept turning the pages and skipping ahead just to figure out what happened. The idea of communicating with the mind or even the idea of remote viewing has always fascinated me. I've always hoped (not nescessarily believed) that communication through the mind was possible. And here is hope. Proof, maybe. I won't go that far. Until they test it out on regular-Joe's such as myself will I begin to really believe. But I'm still excited nonetheless.

I was also intrigued by the concept of time in Chapter. This is another idea that I can't seem to wrap my head around, but I'm still intrigued. "Take time out of it, and it all makes sense." But that's everything I know! It's been hard to think about all these concepts being feasible, but this one really made me stop and think. I've been trying all evening to "take time out of it", but I'm not really having any luck. Time is something that is so beaten into us that it's hard to look at the world any other way. Maybe it takes practice. But for now, I'm still baffled.
