Blog 1

After reading the first three chapters of The Field I found myself looking at everyday things in a whole new light. I will never look at a flock of birds in the same way again. I’m the type of person who needs some sort of proof to back up what I believe and it seems as if many of these scientists are doing just that.
The discussion of the Zero Point Field in chapter 2 was the hardest thing for me to understand. What I did take out of chapter 2 was the idea that everything and everyone is connected in the universe and every movement we make is felt around the universe.
I found chapter 3 and Fritz-Albert Popp’s experimentations with light to be the most interesting topic covered in the first three chapters. The fact that all living things emit light was very fascinating and I can’t believe I never heard about his experiments with cancer patients before. I’ve read before that plants and animals in the rainforest may hold cures for different types of cancer. After reading about the mistletoe extract that Popp used on the women with terminal cancer, I wonder how many other plants in world hold the cure to other forms of cancer. Not to mention how he came across the mistletoe cure by looking at the body’s biophoton emissions was amazing.
The most troubling thing I found in the readings was how all the scientists were not able to show their findings to their peers with out fear of being ridiculed. This attitude in the scientific community is disheartening and will slow down the process of new discoveries coming to the table. The very idea that Popp had to hide his equipment and research at one of his student’s houses is frightening. Who knows how many ideas have been stamped out by people in the scientific community simply because they can’t understand or just fear the unknown.
