I feel as though many people think of altered states as something of this world. We get ourselves into these states by means of alcohol, drugs, ect. Chapter 1 gave me a whole different perspective. I have seen pictures of the moon and they don't look very different from pictures of other places. It seemed so strange to me that being on another planet can somehow alter your vision. Think about what would happen if the room you are in got bigger, but all its contents stayed the same. Everything, including yourself, would seem much smaller. If your desk suddenly got bigger, and everything else stayed the same, the room would seem much smaller. This seems to be the kind of effect the moons atmosphere gives on the human mind.
