Blog 3 Chapter 7-9
The story of the achuar and the huaorani Indians was interesting to me. They gather together and tell their dreams as stories. When I dream, usually good dreams I wake up happy but can never tell my entire dream like a story. It is almost as if I remember when I first wake up but then try to put it into words and cannot remember. Another interesting part was when the tribe said how dreams are real and when you awake you awake to “falsehood?” I am having hard time thinking about that. So the tribe is saying that when people dream they are real and when they are awake is when it is false. Why then can’t I remember my dreams but can remember everything that happens in real life.
In Brauds experiment he experimented with people starring at you. Some people in the experiment did not mind being starred at, me on the other hand dislike it very much. Sometimes though I have certain friends, like when I am working there are certain things that go on among my customers at the bar. If someone comes in that we do not like, or if there is a conversation going on at the bar that we overhear, we can look at each other and almost know what the other is thinking.
In chapter 8 I found it very interesting about the experiment with the burnt leaf. The same reaction happened to a person who had his or her hand burnt. In chapter 9 it was kind of confusing but I was interested by the experiment with the people who dream what will happen the next day or in the future. I do not believe it is exact but I think if someone thinks about an event that might be happening the next day or in the future, if they think about it enough part of their sleep will contain what they have been thinking about.
