Blog 1

Thus far, in reading The Field, I found chapter 3 (Beings of Light) to be my favorite and most relational chapter. There are some very exciting specifics I found interesting throughout the reading that I would like to expand my thoughts upon.
First of all, reading about Fritz-Albert Popp sparked my interest, and after reading the chapter, I “Google imaged” him because the image gave me a face to correlate with his ideas. I am especially interested in reading about cancer, because there is so much that baffles the best of scientists and researchers about the disease. Therefore, when Popp’s idea of photo-repair was introduced, with correlation to cancerous compounds causing cancer because it blocks this “photo-repair”, the reading became much more enjoyable for me, and I immediately became interested.
Another reason I Google imaged Popp was because I found him to be inspiring. At the bottom of page 41 Popp presents the idea that there is light in the body to cancer researchers and they received it as a joke. “Don’t you think if there were light in the body, they told him, somebody, somewhere would have noticed it by now?” Only one single researcher took Popp seriously. I am sure he realized that presenting his ideas (furthermore at a young age) would not go over to well with some of the most advanced researches in the field, but he went still went forth with his presentation, despite the ridicule. Later on in the chapter the university, where he was working, asked him to leave and it took years for the scientific community to respect and accept his ideas, nevertheless, he pressed on. Inspiring for us all, right?
I also found the phenomenon of phantom limbs fascinating. The realistic cramps, aches, and tinglings in the missing limb may be a very real thing, because “the shadow of the limb could be imprinted on the Zero Point Field (52).” In conclusion, another intriguing point in the readings involved the case of the woman in her thirties who had breast and vaginal cancer (see page 54). This woman, who had terminal cancer was restored by taking an herb—mistletoe! “Popp tried mistletoe and other plant extracts on samples of her cancerous tissue and found that one particular mistletoe remedy created coherence in the tissue similar to that of her body…. Her proper light was restored.” It makes me wonder what other miracles are around us of which we are unaware, and, in my mind, it makes me sad we are depleting perhaps one of our most valuable resources for these types of restorations-the rainforest.
